Modern Jazz – Classical With A Modern Twist

Jazz is a classical form of dance with a modern twist. A Combination of the control and poise of Ballet and the rhythm and timing of Tap is an absolute necessary to be successful at Jazz. Students at the Studios normally progress to Jazz dance classes as an extra skill to their freestyle and street dance. Our classes follow a traditional structure of warm-ups, technique exercises and choreographed routines designed to challenge and inspire.

At Vivienne Shelley Dance Studios, our classes are always fun, friendly, and Jazzy! You will have the opportunity to meet new friends and you will learn something new every week. Our classes are taught in a relaxed and safe environment and are suitable for the absolute beginner to the seasoned expert. Even the most timid child soon gains confidence.

We strive to encourage our dancers at every stage, from the little twinkle-toes to the professional dancers. Students are rewarded for their hard work through their examination results and their excellent dancing abilities at competitions, festivals and shows. Furthermore, Vivienne Shelley Dance Studios boasts successes for the many students who have auditioned and achieved places with prestigious theatres. These include the local Regent Theatre and Victoria Hall and recently the National Youth Ballet. Although many students attend merely for the fun, exercise and social aspect of dance, we are also very proud of our professionalism in training and encouragement of our many students who have gone on to full time dance, and Performance Arts training.
